Markus Seidlein is Head of Research at Logivest. Together with his team, he supports investors and project developers, local authorities and municipalities, as well as companies from the industrial, retail and logistics services sectors, in identifying suitable logistics locations.
As Head of Research, you are the master of data. What key figures do you collect?
We record and analyse new construction developments on the German logistics property market for the Logivest Group. We not only cluster by logistics region - here we follow the division into 24 top logistics regions by Fraunhofer IIS - but also by sector or brownfields/greenfields. This data is then used at the beginning of the year to create our logistics property seismograph and the new construction volume map. In addition, our own location information system is of course based on our current data. We also collect key figures on existing properties, such as vacancy rates or logistics employment and regional market data.
How relevant is the topic of data today?
As our CEO Kuno Neumeier once put it so well: 'For Logivest, data is the backbone of our consulting expertise. Market transparency and penetration - throughout Germany - have always been our goal. For our customers, in turn, data is the basis for strategic decisions. Whether investors, project developers or local authorities and municipalities - they all need up-to-date and transparent data in order to make well-founded decisions.
Besides data - how do you switch off?
I'm passionate about cooking. I also love exploring other countries and cultures - including their cuisine. This allows me to find inspiration for my next dishes when I'm travelling.
