Which sector is at the forefront of new-build developments?
Logivest has also analysed the sector drivers in the first half of 2024 based on its own research data. After last year's restraint, the retail sector is recovering as predicted and can take the lead in new-build developments. The largest project in this sector is Fressnapf's own use of around 72,000 square metres in Nörvenich.
However, with around 31 per cent of the total volume, the retail sector is only one percentage point ahead of logistics service providers. Group7 is developing the largest project in the LDL/KEP sector with around 65,000 square metres - also for own use. The automotive sector is slightly behind in third place with around 20 per cent. This is primarily due to the new Mercedes-Benz logistics centre in Bischweier in the district of Rastatt, which is also the largest project of the first half of the year with around 130,000 square metres.
